A condenser nobody has cleaned is the largest single contributor to a refrigeration cabinet working too hard; a blocked defrost drain becomes ice around an evaporator; an ice machine left uncleaned becomes a pump; a blocked toe-kick grille becomes an intermittent zone. None of those is dramatic and all of them are cheaper this way. ### How much cheaper is a second appliance? Substantially, and it is arithmetic rather than a discount: the travel and the setup are the bulk of what a service call costs, and they happen once. On this make it matters more than usual, because a JennAir kitchen is normally a whole suite from one maker. ### How often is worth doing? Once a year for a kitchen in normal use, and it is worth timing it before the summer rather than after. Almost everything this climate does to an appliance — humidity into a cabinet, heat in a sealed island, a condenser working against a hot kitchen — is hardest between June and October. ### My house is empty for part of the year. Then this is worth more, not less.
