A starting figure, not a quote. What moves it is the model, how the unit is built in and which part it needs — settled after the on-site diagnostic.

On the visit

How this visit actually goes

The same order every time, so nothing is opened and nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and said yes.

  1. 01

Check the warranty before anything else

This maker covers the sealed system on refrigeration for ten years in three steps. On a cabinet under five years old that includes labor. If yours is inside it, the visit ends with the manufacturer's number rather than with our quote, and that is the correct outcome.

  2. 02

Exclude the cheap causes on record

Condenser, fans, defrost circuit, dampers, thermistors and door seals — each measured and written down. A sealed-system job is not something to arrive at by elimination in somebody's head.

  3. 03

Find where it is actually losing

A system low on refrigerant has lost it somewhere, and putting more in without finding the leak is selling the same repair twice. Leak location is part of the job rather than an extra.

  4. 04

    Repair, drier, evacuate, weigh in

A new filter drier every time, a proper evacuation, and a charge weighed to the figure on the appliance plate. This is the step that separates a repair that lasts from one that comes back in a season.

The money

What this usually costs in South Florida

The starting figure, the range the market quotes around it, and what pushes a job to either end.

  • Sealed system and compressor repair cost

The largest figure on this site and the only one quoted last. On this class of cabinet the answer to "is it worth it" is more often yes than on a mass-market machine — and the warranty question comes before the figure.

    • Researched market range: compressor $600–$1,200; leak location and repair $400–$900
    • Reached only after the whole cheaper list is measured and excluded on record
    • The maker covers the sealed system for ten years — checked first

Applies to

  • A tall full-height refrigerator column standing open in a dark luxury kitchen, showing glass shelves and a very dark interior lining lit softly from within, a few plain glass bottles on one shelf.
    Built-in · Column · French door · Undercounter · Drawers · Beverage centers · 18"–48"

    JennAir refrigerator repair in Miami

The largest row in this line and the one this phone rings about most. Built-in cabinets and panel-ready columns from 18 to 48 inches, French door, the undercounter units that live in an island or a bar run, refrigerated drawers and beverage centers. Most of them are trimmed into your cabinetry, which is the first thing we need to know.

    • The refrigerator drifting warm while the freezer holds
    • Water on the floor, or ice building where it should not
    • A cabinet running constantly and never quite getting there
    Refrigerator repair
  • A tall full-height freezer column standing open beside a run of dark cabinetry, showing three deep pull-out drawers with clear fronts and a pale frost-free interior lit from within.
    Panel-ready columns · 18" · 24" · 30" · Single temperature

    JennAir freezer repair in Miami

This make builds three standalone freezers and they are all the same idea: a panel-ready column, single temperature, meant to stand beside a refrigerator column behind matching cabinetry. That is the whole row, and it is a short one on purpose. The freezer half of a combination cabinet is covered on the refrigerator page, because that is the same appliance.

    • Frost building up faster than the defrost cycle clears it
    • The column running warm while the one beside it is fine
    • Ice on the floor of the cabinet, or water underneath it
    Freezer repair
  • A tall built-in wine cabinet with a dark glass door, seen straight on in a dim room, wooden cradles inside holding bottles on their sides and lit by a soft cool light from within.
    Undercounter · Columns · Dual zone · Panel-ready · 18" · 24"

JennAir wine cellar repair in Miami

Undercounter cellars and full-height wine columns, most of them dual-zone and most of them panel-ready. A wine cabinet almost never stops outright: it drifts a few degrees, holds the wrong humidity, or starts vibrating, and it says nothing about any of it. In a market with a great many second homes, that can run a whole season before anybody notices.

    • One zone holding and the other drifting
    • A cabinet that is cold enough and humming louder than it did
    • Condensation on the glass, or on the bottles
    Wine cellar repair
  • A narrow undercounter ice machine built into a dark bar run with its door standing open, showing a shallow bin part filled with clear ice cubes and a pale interior.
    Undercounter · 15" · Gourmet ice · Panel-ready · Drain and drainless

JennAir ice machine repair in Miami

Two machines in the current line, both undercounter, both 15 inches, and most of what goes wrong with them is water rather than refrigeration. An ice machine is a small appliance with a plumbing problem attached — a supply, a path through the machine, and a drain — and in this water all three of those want attention long before the sealed system does.

    • Making less ice than it did, or ice that is cloudy and soft
    • A machine that fills and never harvests
    • Water under the cabinet, or a bin that will not stop filling

About JennAir sealed system & compressor repair

The warranty comes before the quote

This maker warrants the sealed refrigeration system for ten years, in its own words and in three steps: two years parts and labor, years three through five on the cavity liner and the sealed system with labor still included, and years six through ten on the sealed system with parts only. The components it names are the compressor, evaporator, condenser, dryer and connecting tubing — which is exactly what this repair is. If your cabinet is inside any of those, the manufacturer's own line is (305) 745-7213. We are independent, we are not that channel, and a page that quoted you without saying so would be selling you something you already own.

What the job actually is

  • Recovery of what is left in the system, properly and legally.
  • Leak location, because a low system is a leaking system.
  • The repair itself — a joint, a tube, or the compressor.
  • A new filter drier, every time, without exception.
  • Evacuation to pull the moisture and air out before anything goes back in.
  • A charge weighed to the plate, not judged by pressure and feel.

Why it is the last thing on the list

Almost every symptom that makes an owner think "compressor" belongs to something an order of magnitude cheaper. A warm fresh-food side with a cold freezer is airflow. A cabinet running constantly is usually heat it cannot shed. Frost that keeps coming back is the defrost circuit. Those are measured and ruled out on record before this figure is ever mentioned, and most visits never get here.

What it costs

From $695, and it moves with the component, the refrigerant and the installation. The exact cost is confirmed after the diagnostic and agreed in writing before anything is opened — and if the honest answer is that the cabinet is not worth it, that is the answer you get.

Questions about JennAir sealed system & compressor repair

Is it worth repairing?

On this class of cabinet, usually yes — and that is a genuinely different answer from the one we would give about a mass-market refrigerator. A built-in column is trimmed into your kitchen and finished with your own panels; replacing it is a cabinetry job as well as an appliance purchase. On a machine of that kind a sealed-system repair is frequently the sensible economics. On an older undercounter unit it sometimes is not, and we say so.

Can you just top it up?

No, and anybody who offers to should be treated with caution. A sealed system does not consume refrigerant. If it is low, it is leaking, and adding more without finding the leak means the same money again in a few months plus whatever the leak has done in between.

Why is this quoted last?

Because it is the most expensive thing on the site and because most of the symptoms that point at it are actually something else. A cabinet that will not hold temperature is a defrost circuit, a fan, a damper, a sensor or a door seal far more often than it is refrigerant, and every one of those is a fraction of this figure.

How long is the appliance out of use?

Plan on the cabinet being warm for the working day. Recovery, the repair itself, evacuation and a weighed charge are hours rather than minutes, and on a built-in cabinet there is the time to bring it out and put it back. If there is a second column beside it, the food usually has somewhere to go.
