The grille first
Every undercounter cabinet breathes through the grille at its base. A run built beautifully around it afterwards, or a kick panel fitted flush, is the commonest reason one of these underperforms with nothing broken at all.

Measure, do not read
An independent probe in each zone rather than the number on the front. A display and a cabinet disagreeing is itself the diagnosis, and it usually points at a sensor.

One zone or both
A single wrong zone in a two-zone cabinet rules out the compressor and the condenser in one step, which is why these diagnoses are often short. Both zones wrong is a different search.

Humidity and vibration
Neither is on any display. Both are measured, because a cabinet at the right temperature and the wrong humidity is not doing its job, and a new vibration through the racks is a mechanical answer waiting to be found.

The appliance that does not tell you
Everything else in a kitchen announces a problem. A wine cabinet drifts. It holds a temperature two or three degrees away from the one on its display, or the right temperature at the wrong humidity, and it does that quietly for as long as nobody measures it. That is why this visit is a measurement before it is a repair, and why the first thing checked costs nothing.
What we find
- Airflow at the toe kick — the free check, and a real share of the answers.
- The condenser, for the same reason and with the same symptom.
- Zone fans and dampers on a dual-zone cabinet, which is what one wrong zone points at.
- Sensors, which is what "the display says one thing and the bottles say another" means.
- The door — seal, alignment, and on a paneled or glass door the hardware carrying it.
- Fan and compressor mounts, where the complaint is noise rather than temperature.
Undercounter and column
This maker builds both: 18 and 24 inch undercounter cellars, and full-height wine columns. Most are dual-zone and most are panel-ready. The column is the easier diagnosis and the harder access; the undercounter unit is the reverse, and is far more likely to be suffering from the cabinetry built around it than from anything inside it.

It is only two degrees off. Is that worth a call?
On this appliance, yes — more than on any other in the kitchen. A refrigerator two degrees off is an inconvenience. A cellar two degrees off, held for months, is a measurable change to what is in it. And two degrees is usually early: it is the symptom that arrives before the one that would have made you call anyway.
Why does humidity matter?
Because it shows on corks and labels long before it shows anywhere else, and because no panel on any of these cabinets reports it to you. It is one of the things we measure on the visit rather than ask you about.
The cabinet has started to hum differently.
Worth reporting, and worth reporting in exactly those words. Constant vibration transmitted into the racks is not what a compressor mount or a fan is supposed to do. It is also one of the few problems on this appliance you can detect before an instrument can.
My house is empty for half the year.
Then it is worth a look before the season rather than after it. A cellar that drifts in March is discovered in November, and by then the drift is the smaller half of the story. If the cabinet is on a smart connection, it is worth having the alerts go to somebody who is reading them.
