Work out which appliance and whether the water is inside or underneath. Water inside a refrigerator is usually a blocked defrost drain and is not urgent. Water underneath anything built into cabinetry is reaching your cabinet base and your floor before it reaches you, and that is a same-day call.
Where matters more than how much
A cup of water inside a refrigerator is a blocked drain and can wait a week. The same cup underneath a built-in dishwasher is reaching a cabinet base made of engineered board, and it does not dry out again. In a kitchen where almost every appliance is trimmed into millwork, the location of the water is the whole of the urgency, and it is the first thing we ask.
The one that is documented
On the dishwashers of this corporate group, the diverter shaft seal has been reported to begin leaking four to six years after manufacture. It is worth knowing because the water arrives underneath rather than in the tub, and because it is a real repair rather than a mystery. The sump gasket, the hose clamps and the door seal are the other usual sources.
Shut the supply before you call
Every appliance that takes water has a valve, usually under the sink or behind the cabinet. Closing it costs nothing, stops the damage while you wait, and does not make the diagnosis harder — we can open it again in ten seconds. It is the single most useful thing to do between finding water and somebody arriving.

There is water in the bottom of my refrigerator.
That is almost always the defrost drain, iced closed, sending its meltwater into the cabinet rather than down the tube. It is a real repair and a small one, and it is worth doing before the water finds the cabinet base underneath.
How urgent is water under a built-in dishwasher?
Same day, if you can. In a built-in kitchen the water reaches the cabinet base, the plinth and the floor before anybody sees it, and by the time it is visible on the tile it has usually been going on for a while. Shut the supply valve under the sink and call.
It only leaks sometimes.
Intermittent means a specific condition — a particular cycle, a full load, a door closed a certain way — and that is genuinely useful. Note what was happening each time. It is much easier to find a leak you can reproduce.
Is condensation the same as a leak?
No, and telling them apart saves a call. Water on the outside of a cold cabinet or a glass door in a South Florida summer is warm humid air meeting a cold surface. Water inside, or water that appears with the appliance running, is a different thing.
