01
Which part of the cabinet is wrong
On a combination cabinet, a cold freezer with a warm refrigerator is airflow. On two separate columns, a warm one beside a cold one rules out the house, the room and the installation in a sentence. That answer changes where the visit starts.

Look at the evaporator
A coil under a sheet of ice is a defrost problem wearing a cooling problem's clothes, and it is the single commonest real repair in this category. The heater, the sensor and the control that drives them are measured rather than assumed.
-
03
Airflow, then sensing
The evaporator fan, the damper that meters cold into the fresh-food side, and the thermistors the cabinet uses to know its own temperature. Each of them produces a warm cabinet and none of them is expensive.

04
The condenser, which is maintenance
In this climate a condenser nobody has cleaned since the kitchen was built is doing real harm. It is cleaned on the visit and the result is measured before the appointment ends, because a clean condenser sometimes is the repair.

Refrigerator not cooling: repair cost
Where most refrigeration calls actually land, and the band the expensive one is reached by eliminating. Absorbs the freezer frost and drain work, because a sensor and the circuit it watches share one complaint.
- Researched market range: evaporator fan $200–$400; defrost heater $200–$450; thermistor $100–$250
- Airflow is measured before anything about refrigerant
- The manufacturer's own warranty is checked before any figure is given

The JennAir units we carry this work out on
-
Built-in · Column · French door · Undercounter · Drawers · Beverage centers · 18"–48" JennAir refrigerator repair in Miami
The largest row in this line and the one this phone rings about most. Built-in cabinets and panel-ready columns from 18 to 48 inches, French door, the undercounter units that live in an island or a bar run, refrigerated drawers and beverage centers. Most of them are trimmed into your cabinetry, which is the first thing we need to know.
- The refrigerator drifting warm while the freezer holds
- Water on the floor, or ice building where it should not
- A cabinet running constantly and never quite getting there
-
Panel-ready columns · 18" · 24" · 30" · Single temperature JennAir freezer repair in Miami
This make builds three standalone freezers and they are all the same idea: a panel-ready column, single temperature, meant to stand beside a refrigerator column behind matching cabinetry. That is the whole row, and it is a short one on purpose. The freezer half of a combination cabinet is covered on the refrigerator page, because that is the same appliance.
- Frost building up faster than the defrost cycle clears it
- The column running warm while the one beside it is fine
- Ice on the floor of the cabinet, or water underneath it

About JennAir refrigerator defrost & cooling repair
Defrost first, refrigerant last
The order this job is worked in is not arbitrary. A cabinet that has stopped holding temperature is, in rough order of likelihood, a defrost circuit that has let ice build on the evaporator, an evaporator fan that has stopped moving air, a thermistor reporting the wrong number, a damper that is not opening, a condenser choked with dust, and a door that is not sealing. The sealed system is at the end of that list, not the start, and it is reached by ruling the rest out on record.
What we are called out for
- The defrost circuit — heater, sensor, control — the commonest real repair here and the one that hides as everything else.
- The evaporator fan, which is audible when it is going and silent when it has gone.
- Thermistors, cheap to replace and easy to misread from a display.
- The condenser, which in this city is maintenance with a service call attached.
- The defrost drain, which ices closed and puts meltwater on the floor of the cabinet.
- The control board, particularly after an outage or a brownout.
Columns behave differently from combination cabinets
A column is a single-temperature cabinet with one sealed system, usually installed beside another column and finished with matching panels. That makes a warm column a simpler diagnosis than a warm side of a two-temperature cabinet — there is no shared air path to investigate — and it means the food can move next door while the work happens. It also means the cabinet comes forward through your millwork, which is the part of the appointment worth planning.
What it costs
From $165. A drain clear or a sensor is the bottom; a defrost heater with the cabinet out of a built-in housing is the top. The exact cost is confirmed after the on-site diagnostic and agreed before anything is opened.

Questions about JennAir refrigerator defrost & cooling repair
The fridge is warm and the freezer is cold.
On a combination cabinet that is one of the most diagnostic sentences there is. The freezer does the cooling and air is moved into the fresh-food side, so a cold freezer with a warm refrigerator usually means the air is not arriving — a damper, an evaporator fan, or a defrost problem that has iced the coil solid. It is very rarely refrigerant, which is the expensive answer people brace for.
Is this covered by the manufacturer?
Possibly, and it is worth checking before you pay anybody. This maker covers refrigeration for two years parts and labor, then years three to five on the cavity liner and sealed system with labor included, then years six to ten on the sealed system with parts only. Those are its own words from its own document. Its service line is 1-800-536-6247. We are independent and we would rather tell you than take the call.
How long does this repair take?
The work itself is usually short. What takes the time on this make is getting to it: a column or a built-in cabinet is trimmed into your millwork and may be carrying a cabinet door on its own hinges, and it comes forward and goes back leveled and aligned. That is why we ask what kind of installation it is when you book.
It runs constantly. Is that the compressor going?
Almost never, and that is the useful part. A cabinet that runs and runs is usually one that cannot get rid of its heat — a packed condenser, a blocked toe-kick grille, a door seal letting warm air in — or one whose defrost cycle has stopped clearing the coil. All of those are cheaper than the answer people fear, and all of them are checked first.
