Can I just change the bulb?
On these cabinets, no — the lighting is LED modules rather than bulbs, so there is nothing to unscrew. That sounds like bad news and mostly is not: the modules last far longer, and when one does go it is a straightforward replacement rather than a rewire.
The light stays on with the door shut.
